I founded the Shepherd Huts division of Cobut Woodcrafts in 2020 to specialise in functional and attractive wooden buildings that have genuine character. Working with a small team of professionals we hand crafted unique Shepherd Huts and wooden living spaces that become a real talking point.
In 2025 we merged with Purton Barn Woodcrafts and Shepherd Huts, and this has trebled our production capacity. We have moved to new premises in Purton and can now build 6-8 huts at once. The team has grown fast too, and there are 9 of us now.
I have worked with wood for nearly 20 years and have extensive experience in construction. At Cobut Woodcrafts and Purton Barn we focus on making highly insulated full accommodation Shepherd Huts that can be used as holiday rentals or garden escapes.
We have made many different styles of shepherd huts and custom garden buildings for outdoor living. A finished project from us comes with care and attention to details that leave you feeling safe. We work with accredited electricians and other professionals to ensure that all works are signed off to full regulation standard.
To get the right result for each project we work with many different woods and often incorporate reclaimed wood to create living spaces that both look good and are designed to work practically. We design and build in the countryside of North Wiltshire near Purton and can supply finished huts throughout the country subject to transport arrangements and location access.

All Season Shepherd Huts
Our one-off design and build Shepherd Huts have been sold as holiday lets and private garden retreats. Fully insulated with accommodation, plumbing and electricity they make a wonderful place for a weekend stay or an extra garden room for guests or yourself.
We include character points, often working with reclaimed materials to create Shepherd Huts that become a talking point. They are desirable and unique and designed to last for decades as a real investment. Prices on our full accommodation huts start at £32,000 and range upwards for different sizes and styles.
Outdoor Living Buildings
When our workload allows we have project managed and created wonderful garden buildings for customers. It's easier than you might think to make more use of your garden with a custom BBQ eating area. These can be in hut or shelter style or even a traditional wooden gazebo.
Most of these structures can be built with no planning permission and make a huge difference to time spent outside with friends. A typical garden shelter project will take 4-6 weeks depending on scale, and can include paint and finish.
